What is included in my package?
Your session includes the photographer’s time and talent, a What to Wear guide, and styling assistance upon request.
After your shoot, you’ll receive a proofing gallery to choose your favorite images. Once selections are made, your final images will be hand-edited and delivered in an online gallery for download and safekeeping.
A retainer fee is required to hold your date. Once your retainer is paid and your contract is signed, your session is officially booked. The remaining balance is due on the day of your session.
All sessions include high-resolution digital images with personal-use rights.
Where does my session take place?
Your session location is chosen based on the type of session and the look you love most.
Lifestyle sessions can take place in the comfort of your home or in my studio in Dobbs Ferry, NY — perfect for timeless, light-filled portraits in a relaxed setting.
Outdoor sessions can happen in a favorite park, your own backyard, a scenic suburban location, or in New York City, where the backdrop possibilities are truly endless. I have a curated list of beautiful locations throughout Westchester and the surrounding areas, and I’m always happy to recommend the perfect spot to match your vision.
I regularly travel and love destination-style sessions. During the summer months, I frequently photograph families in The Hamptons and at summer homes in Connecticut and New Jersey. Locations beyond the Westchester and tri-state area may include an additional fee.
When is the best time of day for photos?
The best time for photos depends on the look you love — and the time of year.
For outdoor sessions, lighting is softer and more flattering earlier or later in the day, especially in spring and summer. In fall and winter, we have a bit more flexibility, and late morning into early afternoon often works beautifully.
Indoor and studio sessions can take place at any time of day. I bring professional lighting, so we’re never dependent on window light.
That said, I always tell families: the best time for your session is when the kids are at their best. Happy, well-rested kids matter more than the position of the sun.
What About “Golden Hour”?
Golden hour is the hour before sunset when the light is warm, glowy, and dreamy. It’s beautiful — but it’s not the only time great photos happen.
In the summer, golden hour can be quite late, which isn’t always ideal for little ones. As an experienced photographer, I know how to use shade, positioning, and professional techniques to create flattering light throughout the day — not just at sunset.
With over 20 years of experience photographing families, headshots, and brands in and around New York City, I know how to work with just about any lighting situation — so you can relax and leave the technical side to me.
What should we wear?
Clothing matters — but comfort matters more.
The goal is to look like you, just a slightly polished version. If a child is tugging at a scratchy outfit or feeling unlike themselves, it shows. Happy, comfortable people always photograph best.
That said, cohesive colors and textures make a big difference in the overall feel of your images. Neutrals, soft tones, and layered textures (knits, linen, denim, cotton) photograph beautifully and keep the focus on connection, not clothing logos or busy patterns.
You can absolutely dress things up for a holiday look, or keep it relaxed with jeans and bare feet for a studio or beach session. Both are beautiful — it just depends on the mood you want.
Once your session is booked, I’m always happy to help you coordinate outfits.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Booking timelines vary depending on the type of session and the time of year.
Newborn sessions are best booked 1–2 months in advance to ensure availability around your due date. Babies have their own schedules, so I always build in flexibility once your little one arrives.
Outdoor family sessions depend on season and availability. If you’re hoping for a weekend date, I recommend reaching out about a month in advance. Weekday sessions typically have more flexibility and can often be scheduled 2 weeks out.
Maternity sessions are ideally photographed when you are 31–34 weeks along — the perfect window for that beautiful bump while still feeling comfortable.
Booking early also gives us breathing room in case weather causes a reschedule. If you need something last-minute, don’t hesitate to ask — I’ll always do my best to fit you in if my schedule allows.
How long will it be until I get my images?
You’ll receive your proofing gallery shortly after your session (typically 24-48 hours). From there, you have two weeks to select your favorite images for final editing.
Once your selections are submitted, your hand-edited digital images will be delivered through an online gallery within two weeks. The sooner you choose your favorites, the sooner your final gallery arrives.
Your digital files include personal printing rights, so you can print them whenever and wherever you’d like. That said, print quality can vary greatly between labs. For the best color, clarity, and longevity, I recommend using the professional print labs connected directly to your gallery — ordering is quick and ensures your images look their best.
Be sure to download and back up your files once delivered — and most importantly, print them! Your photos deserve to live off your screen.
What if it rains or someone gets sick?
Life happens — especially with kids — and I completely understand.
If the forecast calls for clouds, we’re still on! Overcast skies actually create soft, flattering light and are wonderful for portraits. Some of the prettiest sessions happen on cloudy days.
If there’s a strong chance of rain or severe weather, we’ll reschedule outdoor sessions at no stress to you. Your comfort (and dry clothes!) matter.
If someone in your family is feeling unwell, please let me know as soon as possible and we’ll move your session to a new date at no cost to you. I want everyone feeling their best and ready to have fun.
Indoor and studio sessions can take place rain or shine.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, absolutely! I’m an animal lover, and pets often bring out the sweetest, most natural moments during family sessions.
Pets are welcome in my studio, in your home or backyard, and at select outdoor locations. I’m familiar with which parks allow dogs, so I can help guide us to a pet-friendly spot if we’re shooting outdoors.
If you plan to bring your furry family member, just let me know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly (and maybe bring a few treats!).
Do you have props?
For lifestyle newborn sessions, I bring a small collection of simple, timeless items like wraps, blankets, and headbands. These add softness without taking attention away from your baby.
For most other sessions — especially outdoor and family sessions — I keep things natural and connection-focused. My goal is to capture genuine moments and relationships, and that doesn’t require a lot of props.
That said, meaningful items are always welcome. A blanket Grandma crocheted, a special toy, or something sentimental can make your photos even more personal. If you have something in mind, just let me know beforehand so we can plan to include it.
One of my favorite things about in-home newborn sessions is capturing your family in your real space — these photos become even more special as homes change and little ones grow.
