Some stories just unfold like they were meant to be. This sweet couple from the city shares a love for weekend getaways in the Hudson Valley, so when he reached out to plan a surprise proposal, I knew we were in for something special. We talked for weeks, scouting location after location — about seven in total! Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown were our first choices, but with Halloween festivities in full swing, we needed something more private. At the very last minute, we landed on beautiful Halsey Pond in Irvington — quiet, romantic, and perfectly secluded. The plan came together flawlessly.

After a fun afternoon with her girlfriends at one of my favorite local restaurant spots, Goosefeather in Tarrytown, they told her they just had to show her an “amazing castle” by the pond. A short walk later, she found her soon-to-be fiancé waiting by the water with the most gorgeous ring. I was there, camera in hand, pretending to be a bird photographer (a role I played surprisingly well!) — and everything went off without a hitch. The nerves, the joy, and that incredible “yes” — it was pure magic.
